Private music lessons are available at Rosebery School and all lessons take place here at a mutually convenient time.

To book either solo or shared lessons, please click on the tabs below where you will find an appropriate list of instructors and their contact details.

It is important to note that these lessons are booked directly with the music instructor.

All our music instructors are DBS checked.

Andrew is Principal Trombone with the English National Ballet Philharmonic and Trombonist with Riot Ensemble.  As well as teaching at Rosebery, he is the Trombone Teacher at Junior Trinity Conservatoire and at Kingston Grammar School.  Outside of teaching, Andrew can also be found guesting with other UK Symphony Orchestras, in West End Shows such as ‘The Lion King’ and in the recording studio.  He has been lucky enough to appear on the soundtracks of films such as ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ and ’The Hobbit – An Unexpected Journey’ in addition to computer games, TV adverts and Cd’s.

A graduate from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and with over 20 years of performing and teaching experience, Tom has a real passion for all things percussion!  Be it heading to Rotterdam to lead jazz workshops with a jazz trio, performing in the orchestra pit of your favourite musical, or running concerts and venues, including the renowned Ashtead Jazz Club, Tom has taught and performed all over the world!

As a teacher, Tom’s main aim is to simply pass on his love of music to as many people as possible!  A fun, knowledgeable and experienced teacher, let Tom know if you’d like to learn drum kit, orchestral percussion, or anything in between!

Originally from Yorkshire, Helen has lived in Banstead with her husband and three children for over 30 years. She teaches both privately and at local schools and has taught at Rosebery School for over 20 years.  

Helen is an orchestral and chamber violinist, accompanies a local choir as a pianist and is also an experienced accompanist for music exams.

Like all music teachers, Helen has a passion for what she does and enjoys introducing students to many genres of music, including classical, modern, folk and jazz to name but a few. Helen encourages students to participate in music making both at school and within the community.

Stella has been teaching the Flute and Piano for over 25 years, teaching privately and for Surrey Arts in primary and secondary schools around Epsom. She regularly prepares pupils for ABRSM and Trinity exams, GCSE and A level music recitals. She also takes pleasure in teaching pupils who simply want to enjoy making music.

Outside of teaching, Stella plays tennis, sings in several choirs and climbs mountains.

Lois Geldard is a highly respected professional flautist, teacher and adjudicator. She has performed in international concert halls with top orchestras such as English Chamber Orchestra, Bolshoi Ballet,  Glyndebourne Opera and many others. She played in Les Misérables orchestra in London for 18 years.  

Lois is an alumni of Royal College of Music where she won a scholarship to study flute and piano. She has performed many well known flute concertos as soloist in London and coached on youth orchestra courses in the UK and internationally. As soloist and mentor, she has influenced budding young flautists, some of whom now have jobs in world famous orchestras. 

Lois teaches at Epsom College and Rosebery. Her students have achieved success in all exams and frequent distinctions at grade 8 and diplomas.

Lauren is a young, friendly & experienced singing & violin teacher who has taught all ages in both State and Independent schools. Lauren teaches all styles from Pop to Musical Theatre and also offers Trinity Rock Pop Vocals & Rock School Vocal grades. She has had the opportunity to travel extensively internationally as a professional musician/singer/songwriter/pianist and looks forward to passing on her knowledge to Rosebery students.

Robin Bibi is a skilled and accomplished teacher of all styles of contemporary electric and acoustic guitar. Equally at home with Rock, Folk, Pop , Country , Americana and Jazz drawing on material from the 1950s through to the most contemporary music of the moment. He offers the RockSchool syllabus from grade 1 to grade 8 if required. Lessons are tailored to individual student’s pace of learning.  Robin encourages all his students to develop an appreciation of all things musical concerning every aspect of contemporary guitar.

Robin has worked at Rosebery for over 10 years and is also recognised as one of the UKs finest modern blues guitarists. He runs the “Robin Bibi Band” and has also worked with legendary artists such as Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Ben E. King and David Gilmore.

Sheida has performed abroad and in the Purcell Room, St. John’s Smith Square, St. James’s Piccadilly, the National Portrait Gallery and on BBC Radio 3’s “In Tune”.  

Inspired by her love of chamber music, the children she teaches and with the encouragement of her own teachers and fellow musicians, Sheida has been directing Strings Rock! music courses for young string players since 2008.

Sophie is a young, dynamic woodwind teacher, whose primary instrument is all the saxophones, and teaches these and the clarinet up to grade 8; flute up to grade 5; and beginner oboe, all for both ABRSM and Trinity. Sophie’s lessons are tailored to each pupil, depending on their musical style/interest: preparing students to take classical or jazz grades; playing for fun; and focusing on GCSE/A level performance exams. She works for both Surrey Arts and Kingston Music Service, and has experience teaching children from ages 7 in both primary and secondary schools.

Sophie plays in and directs her own big band and is assistant director for Kingston Youth Jazz Band. She also plays in and deps for jazz and wind ensembles across the region.

Ruth is an experienced teacher who works at four schools. Trained at the Guildhall School of Music she studied with Geoffrey Gilbert for 4 years. Ruth plays in several orchestras and wind groups. She is a kind, understanding and sympathetic teacher with a good sense of humour who makes learning enjoyable and fun. Beginners and all standards accepted.
